This is the website of the Irish Society for European Law (“ISEL”).
ISEL handles Personal Data to the extent necessary to carry out its object of promoting the study and practice of EU law in particular through organising EU law events. This Privacy Statement explains our privacy practices. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other organisations or websites.
ISEL fully respects your right to privacy. Personal Data is any information that is identifiable as referable to you. References to “processes” or “processing” mean any activity which involves the use of Personal Data, whether in whole or in part by automated means or otherwise, such as collecting, recording, organizing, storing, modifying, using, disclosing, or deleting such Personal Data.
Any Personal Data which you volunteer to ISEL will be treated with the highest standards of security and confidentiality, strictly in accordance with this Privacy Statement and applicable data protection and privacy laws. It will be stored in a secure environment and access to it will be restricted to as few ISEL representatives as is reasonably possible. It will not be disclosed to third parties, including in particular third parties located in countries other than Ireland. It will be used by ISEL solely for the purposes described below.
Collection and use of personal and technical information
The following information is collected by ISEL via this website, via emails with ISEL, and via the submission of hard copy application forms to ISEL:

The purposes for which you provide us and we collect your Personal Data are to enable us to (i) send you information on ISEL membership, ISEL activities, EU law events organised by ISEL and trusted third parties, and (ii) keep a record of your attendance at any events organised by ISEL.
In volunteering your Personal Data to ISEL, including by subscribing to a mailing list or pursuant to a contract with ISEL to be a member or to attend an event with ISEL you agree to and acknowledge that ISEL may use the Personal Data provided in line with the aforementioned purposes and you expressly consent to the processing of your Personal Data by ISEL as described in this Privacy Statement.
You may visit ISEL’s website without volunteering your Personal Data. However, certain ISEL services (such as providing you with information on events) require you to provide us with Personal Data and if you choose to withhold any Personal Data it may not be possible for you to access parts of our website and/or services.
ISEL reserves the right to modify the terms and conditions of this Privacy Statement at any time, and such modifications shall be effective immediately upon notification and posting of the modified Privacy Statement on ISEL’s website.
Requests regarding data supplied via this website
You can opt-out of any ISEL mailing list by clicking on the ‘unsubscribe’ link on the bottom of ISEL mailshots or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
You may request a description of any of your Personal Data retained by ISEL by e-mailing email@example.com. Where appropriate you may also request rectification or in some cases erasure of such data.
ISEL will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access to any Personal Data and shall respond to such reasonable request made by you within forty days (or such period as required under applicable law) after your identity has been confirmed.
Cookies are small data files that contain a unique identification number temporarily stored in your computer. ISEL’s website uses an in-memory session cookie. This cookie is used by the web server to manage the visitor’s session. This cookie is only stored in your browser memory while you are visiting our website and automatically deletes itself after 20 minutes of inactivity on our site or immediately on closing your browser and there is no record of the cookie stored on your computer.
